Wind
Power, where and how?
Before
the concrete design of a wind power installation, several fundamental
questions should be clarified:
Average
Wind Velocity
Power
in the wind is the cubic function of the wind speed. The higher
the average wind is, the more power a wind turbine can generate.
It is better to choose the area where average wind speed is over
3m/second.
Turbulence
Turbulence
might damage wind turbine and will largely reduce its efficiency.
Therefore, locate the turbine in a site that has turbulence is
not desirable.
Local
prevailing wind direction
Prevailing
wind direction is the direction of the wind last longest time
in a place. It is better to install at the site with steady prevailing
wind direction, without wind ward blocks.
Favorable
Terrain
Favorable
terrain can speed up wind, better to locate turbine in the facing-wind
rigid of a mountain or the mountain pass, avoiding in out of wind
slop or in basin.
Height
of tower
Erect
tower as high as you can, because the farther you get away from
the earth’s surface, the higher and steadier the wind is.
In even area, the recommended height of tower is 6m at least.
The recommended height of tower for our turbine is 6m-18m.
Obstacle
Trees
and buildings will obstruct the airflow and cause a wide and thick
turbulence area in front and behind the obstacle. Avoid locating
the site in such area.
The
wind turbine should be located in an area without surrounding
obstacles within a 400meter radius. The height of the turbine
has to be two times higher that the highest obstacle if any.
If
wind turbine imposition leeward approaches in the building, the
erecting pole highly also should be above the building highly
6meters. The installation site in is away from outside the building
75meters.
Local
regulation
The
installation should pay enough attention to local regulation.
